Nahoko was a very kind guide. Before going to Nakagin, she showed us a commercial building from the same period which is going to be demolished and a capsule tower by Kenzo Tange. At the Nakagin capsule she gave us a little lecture about Metabolism and Kurokawa‘s work and showed us some interviews on the original tv-set. Her English is good and she has thorough knowledge about the subject! We had time to relax in the capsule, take some photos and listen to tape music. Being architecture students, it was a really interesting activity. As this kind of visit to the capsule tower might not be possible for much longer, we highly recommend it!

Amazing experience! I’m not an architect, but even so, it was definitely one of the most unique and interesting experiences I’ve had in Japan. The other participant for the tour never showed up, so I got a private tour and felt very lucky! Not only did I get to see the inside of the Nakagin Capsule tower, Nahoko also took me to some other cool buildings from the same era. Nahoko is very sweet and has so much knowledge to share, and I felt like I had learned a lot when the tour was over. Would definitely recommend this tour!
